This Career-Related First Degree Programme in group 2 (a) is a two-main course with Botany as core subject and Biotechnology as vocational subject. It is designed to develop a scientific aptitude and interest towards the modern area of Biotechnology in particular and life science in general. It is aimed at development of students with a keen interest in Biotechnology without losing the importance of basic science such as Botany. It will help the students to become critical and curious in their outlook. The course will impart the essential basics in Botany, Zoology, Biochemistry and Biotechnology. Apart from understanding Biotechnology and its potential in a developing nation, it will help in eliminating public fear about GM Crops, GM Foods and Transgenic Organisms. Students, who pursue and pass out this programme successfully, will surely have an urge to continue higher studies in Biotechnology and to contribute significantly to its development. The graduates of this course are eligible for admission to post graduate course in Biotechnology, Bioinformatics, Botany, Biochemistry, Microbiology, B.Ed. etc.
